A UK Filmmaker Grace Gelder 31, Created a way around her single status by marrying herself, she
has been single for 6 years and has had many fruitless search for a husband, decided to arrange an unorthodox marriage of her own.
she furthers states that organizing a ceremony centred on herself and making personal vows has been very empowering, the event saw her proposed to herself on a park and bought a ring and a dress and invited all her friends to watch her make her vows.
According to Guardian: “The day was obviously centred on me, the final event being a mirror for me to kiss, but it also felt like I was sharing something very special with my friends, giving everyone an opportunity to reflect on their own ideas of love and commitment. I had one friend in her 50s who said it was one of the best weddings she’d ever been to.”
Gelder further revealed that she was inspired by a song called "ISOBEL", the song express touching lyrics such as "i'm ISOBEL, married to myself."
Though the marriage was not recognized by law but her friend described the wedding as the best she has ever seen. Despite some commenting that her idea was a bit narcissistic, while other welcome the idea.
