Man Volunteered To Be Swallowed By A Snake

Wildlife expert Paul Rosolie has agreed to be 'eaten' by an anaconda for a new show on the Discovery Channel, it's been revealed.

30-year-old Rosolie, who is a naturalist and wildlife filmmaker from New Jersey, will be wearing 'a custom-built snake-proof suit' for the stunt.

The show will be called 'Eaten Alive', and is set to air on December 7.

However, the news was quickly followed by concern for the creature and criticism for the plans, which many think will harm or distress the snake.

The stunt has been dubbed 'animal abuse to the highest degree', and already a petition at Change.org is calling for the show to be cancelled.

The petition reads: “This is animal abuse to the highest degree and absolutely disgusting, and could kill the snake - an adult green anaconda cannot fit the width of an adult man's shoulders into it's body.”

Tweeting in his defence, he said:

"Anancondas can measure up to 30 metres in length, and often eat wild pigs and deer".

Discovery has yet to comment on the concerns over animal welfare.
