Soldiers recover ballot boxes & PVC's from thugs in Delta State


In light of tomorrow's Governorship and State house of Assembly election. thugs in Delta State were caught by the Nigerian Military men with some ballot boxes according to Punch

Soldiers from the 222 Battalion, Agbarha-Otor, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State have said they recovered eight ballot boxes and 310 permanent voter cards from suspected political thugs who attempted to disrupt the March 28 presidential and National Assembly elections.


The Commanding Officer of the battalion, Lt. Col. Matthew Oyekola, who spoke to journalists on Friday during a show of force exercise in preparation for the governorship and state House of Assembly elections, said they recovered eight ballot boxes and 310 PVCs, and arrested some persons in Ndokwa East Local Government Area.

He said: “As a command, we made series of successes in stemming the tide of election irregularities by arresting some persons who wanted to perpetrate violence as well as the recovery of eight ballot boxes and 310 PVCs at Ndokwa East Local Government Area.

“The suspects and the electoral materials have since been handed over to the police and the Returning Officer for the LGA.”

Areas covered by the show of force exercise include; Ughelli North, Ughelli South, Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West, Isoko North, Isoko South, Ethiope East, Burutu and Bomadi local government areas.
